7 tips for creating a successful fan content campaign

sms

Content marketing is on the rise, and with organisations on average devoting a quarter of their marketing budgets to creating targeted material, it is clear content marketing is an approach worth considering.

One of the aims of content marketing is to build trust and engagement with your brand and the pinnacle of this is getting your fans to create their own content about your brand and share it, otherwise known as user generated content.

This is because your fans have similar like-minded friends who will trust their judgement on choices and opinions. There is a trust factor with social sharing that business-to-consumer relationships do not always have.  As such, user generated content has become the new form of ‘word-of-mouth’ marketing.

Social Media Examiner shares these 7 tips for creating a successful fan content campaign:

  1. Create a branded hashtag

Creating a brand hashtag will allow you to engage with your customers. Keeping track on what they post online in relation to your business will enhance your social awareness of what  your customers  are attracted to, their needs and wants. A brand name, slogan or even a mission statement can be created to relate to your business.

  1. Linking business and campaign goals

Once you’ve created your hashtag you need to establish what you want to achieve. If your campaign is highlighting the new services you offer, you may want an overall increased awareness of your product. Another example could be that your company wants to increase its client base; therefore the objective is to increase your following.

  1. Choose your platforms

Deciding which social media platform to use is imperative. Which platforms reflect your targeted audiences? Using platforms your potential audiences are on will make it easier to reach and influence them.

  1. Customer loyalty

People love prizes! By enticing your followers with prizes will keep their loyalty to your business/brand. Rewarding customers is always a great way of expanding your ‘followers’. By asking your fans to share content in order to be in with the chance of winning will attract more people like them, therefore your audience of like-minded people will increase.

  1. Sharing fans’ content

Like prizes, fans love to be noticed. Look at what your followers tag you in, fans will tag you in things they find relevant. Publicise it on your media platform so they recognise your awareness of their presence. It will increase your following and keep current followers engaged.

  1. Like your fans’ posts

To connect with fans, address them on their personal media sites, comment on their pictures, like their statuses. This shows that your business is emotionally responsive not just a ‘robot’ site. It helps fans feel involved and getting a response is the most inclusive way.

  1. Analyse results

After implementing a fan campaign, the outcome needs to be evaluated. Which ideas and tactics worked? What strategy gave the most positive response? What will work the best in the future for your business? All these questions and more will need to be answered so that a more successful plan can be designed for the next campaign.
